BIO

John De La O is a Fine Artist who was born in 1982 in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. He has been drawing and painting for 15 years and exhibiting his work in shows in New York and abroad since 2002.

Often biographical, his work reflects his heritage, interests and upbringing. Drawing on a wide range of subjects and visual icons, his paintings deal with nostalgia, lust, mortality, and popular culture. Working mostly on canvas, paper, and panel, John infuses collage based realism with elements of Abstract Expressionism, Surrealism, Pop Art and traditional Illustration.

John attended the Cooper Union Saturday Program and The Art Students League while attending Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn. He went on to earn a Bachelors Degree in Illustration from The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.

John currently resides in Bay Ridge, where he is fastidiously working on new Art, embellishing his already extensive body of work. He frequently exhibits his paintings and plays music with his group, Band of Young Saints.
